Visit to Vaithalmala (Paithalmala)

Visited Vaithalmala on 25th May 2016. It was an unplanned trip. I called my friend Jibin and told about the trip by around 12 afternoon and he told he will try to come and later he came around 1.30 and then we started our journey from nileshwar to vaithalmala in my car.

Reached Vaithalmala in around two and half hour drive. Roads are very steep in some places. After reaching there we need to walk for about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the top. Trekking is really good and need to be careful about snakes and leeches. After reaching the top I felt its worth walking that 30 minutes. Very calm and cool place, nice breeze and its very cool to be there.

Trip to Talakaveri and Bekal Fort

Visited Talakaveri on 05-Jan-2014 with my friend. It is around 85 Km from the Kanhangad city, Kanhangad is located in Kasaragod district of kerala. Talakaveri  is located in Coorg district of Karnataka.

Its very good for one day trip. The location is not inhabited much and its very green and natural. There is a temple to visit. Entire journey is really good. The place is very cool even in the month of April. Last time I visited in April and this is my second visit. The roads are much better, but it is narrow once we crossed the Kerala border.

You feel the fresh and cool air at Talakaveri and it is an ideal place for a one day visit any time during the year. May be rainy season it will be a little difficult to travel otherwise its good.

Another location to visit nearby Kanhangad is Bekal fort.

You can visit Talakaveri  in the morning and in the after noon visit Bekal fort and enjoy the sunset from the Bekal Beach or from the fort itself.
There is separate entrance fees for Bekal Fort and Beach . You can reach Bekal from Kanhangad on the way to Kasaragod. You can come by road or by train. There is a Bekal railway station. But only very less trains stop there. Currently all passenger trains and also Malabar express stops in this railway station.
By bus it is well connected. There are lot of bus from Kanhangad as well as from Kasaragod.

One day @ Kozhikode (Calicut)

On 10th november 2013, I visited calicut, purpose is to meet one of my friend and also to see the city. Even though I am from kerala I didn't visit there recently.
I reached calicut around 1 pm after noon. First I met my friend and then had lunch. After that headed towards Mananchira Square. Its a small garden and place to sit or hang around.

After that I went to see the calicut beach. Even though its humid it was really good to be part of the crowd.

Kozhikode Beach

To my surprise my friend told that there are two malls , so after spending some time in the beach I went to see those malls.

One is Focus mall and another is RP mall.

I left calicut in the evening. While returning back to my home I get down at Kannur. In the late night there are less bus services and also less train between Kannur and kasaragod. There is a bus from Kannur to Kasaragod around 10.15 pm from Kannur Old bus stand. New bus stand is empty at that time and no bus will go there.

after 10.15 you have to go to Kannur Railway station if you want to go towards Kasaragod. There are two buses which will start infront of the Railway station around 11. These two buses are connection for Satabdi Express.

Saturday, 21 September 2013

On September 14th  afternoon 2.30pm I started my journey to my home town from Bangalore .My home town is in Cheruvathur,  kasaragod district , Kerala State .

I traveled by road. The route I took is Mangalore - Bangalore Highway . This a partial Toll road. The toll road is very good we can travel in speed up to 140km/hr. But once it reaches sakhaleshpur the road is very bad. 30 km very bad stretch. It takes more than 2 and half hour to cover that distance.
So I suggest Mangalore- Mysore Road  via Iritty Thaliparamba or via Bylakuppe- Kushal-Nagar-Sullia - Kanhangad.

I reached my home on Saturday early morning around 2am. It took around 11 hours 30 mins. In between we stopped for 30 mins to take rest.

Places to see in Kasaragod district.

1. Valiyparamba Back waters
2. Bekal Fort.
3. Chandragiri Fort
4. Idayilakadu
5. Guruvanam.

Also there is an old Yoga and Naturopathic Center, Kavil Bhavan Yoga and naturopathy located  at Nileshwar.

Nalanda Reort is a cheap and best place to stay.

While returning from kerala I took Mangalore- Mysore Road  via Iritty Thaliparamba. The road condition was very good , only around 4km stretch its very bad, as some road work is going on.
We cannot travel in very high speed in that road as there are lot of hairpin turn and also ghats.
Up to periyapattana we cannot travel in high speed , the average can be 45- 50 km/hr.

After reaching Periyapattana we went to Bylakuppe , which is  a famous Tibetan Settlement in India. That is a place of tourist attraction. There is a Tibetan Monastery called Golden temple and also Nunnery and lot of other Tibetan schools and establishments.

Below are some of the photos from Bylakuppe.
